Rough Cut of Music Video & Feedback

After the screening of our rough copy of our music video, our class gave us a lot of positive feedback as well as things we could change in order to make our video look better/ more professional

Positive comment made by members of our class was liking our use of visual effects - cutting to the beat and film dissolves, relating our shots to the lyrics, our locations - Leake Street and God's Own Junkyard and our overall theme - urban.

Some things we got told to improve is our lip synching as some point being out of synch, the brightness in one shot was too bright and our use of the male could be removed due to it not looking in the best quality.

We will now go back to editing our video and correct these errors.

Progressions

In todays lesson we continued to make more of our shots cut to the beat of the song as it gives the video rhythm and flow. This also makes the video interesting and keep a audiences attention.

We placed the cutting to the beat at the beginning and end of the chorus and inbetween the 4th verse.

Editing Music Video

In today's lesson we focussed on creating effects for our music video. The editing techniques we incorporated was cutting to the beat, reversing a shot and a 'film dissolve'. These were used to link with some of the lyrics heard as the effect is shown - "wish you could reverse" - shot is reversed, "I was on the fricking train" - film dissolve of a train going by as artist lip syncs and fast flickering so it cuts to the beat as the beat increases during the chorus.

More Shoots - Oxford Circus & God's Own Junkyard

It was suggested by our teacher that we needed to include more transition shots alongside of our artist lip synching so the video cut from different locations. We went to Oxford Circus and God's Own Junkyard to get suitable footage for our music video.

This will create a break from the lip syncing and help to create more narrative for our music video as some of the shot we took in God's Own Junkyard displays images that are love related and so reinforces our theme.

We placed the footage onto Premier Pro and in between some of the lip synch shots to see weather it flows well or not from shot to shot

Editing Music Video

In today's lesson we arranged the footage of our male at particular moments of our music video. We had shots of him in close up, medium shots, long shot and panning. This allowed us a variety to chose from of him when editing. We made sure to place shot of him alongside suitable lyrics that help to connote meaning - lyrics linking to visuals.

Tv Studio Shoot

In our shoot we were using the Tv Studio to project red lighting onto the background of our male actor.
It didn't take us long to set up as all we needed was red plastic to then attach to the studio lights to the make the colour project. Our choice to use red as the backdrop is because this colour is normally associated to connote romance and love - reinforcing our music video theme.
Me and my partner Layla first practiced with the lights to see how it looked before our male actor arrived.
The red lighting looked good against our actor - Kian.
The shoot was a success as we got the footage we needed for our music video and our now ready to edit our whole music video, as we have all of our footage.

Progression

Layla and I have now collected all the footage from our Hackney Wick and Leake Street shoot with our artist. We have now began editing but have one more shoot left to do in the Tv Studio with our male actor. This shoot will take place this thursday.

CD Photography Shoot (refresh page if images are not visible)

The photography shoot went extremely well as we were able to get a variety of shots of our artist - Sharn, in a range of angles and locations. This allows us to then have a lot of choice to pick from for our CD cover we will be creating later on.

Behind The Scenes - Music Video (refresh page if images are not visible)

The meet up time for the crew to meet at Leake Street was for 12:00. This went to plan as everyone was on time. However, according to our original production schedule, make up was supposed to take 1 hour.It took longer than we thought so made us slightly off schedule.
Besides this, we also had problems with the camera given to us by our college. The batteries we were given both ran before our shoot ended - the battery wasn't full when given to us.
This was a difficulty as Layla and I had to rush with the shoot as we wanted the best elements of our music video to be recorded with the college DSLR camera - in the best quality.
Also our Actor - Sharn was only available for this day, so we had to get everything that included her completed.Video shoot and Photoshoot.
Luckily, I brought my Sony camera to record 'behind the scenes' footage of the shoot. We then used my camera to finish off our shoot.

Music Video - 15th Of October Shoot - Crew Email

Emails was sent back and forth to our crew members - director, actor, stylist and make-up artist, to keep everyone informed of our shoot. Attachments was included in the emails of the concept of our video, time, date and exact locations to meet at.
This allowed the team to have a clear understanding of the expectations and so the shoot resulting as organised.

Feedback From Teacher - Esther
